Douglas Ross

New Douglas by Sasheth
Age
20
Gender
Male

Species
Kelpie

Sexuality
Pansexual (everything is game for him as long as there is chemistry and emotion there)

Residence
A reasonably sized fishing boat by the name Selkie he's still not done paying for. Oh well, at least he gets to live alone.

Occupation
Douglas did as a teen spend a lot of time working in fish processing, but switched to fishing fairly quickly when reaching the age of 18. It has proven to suit him well and he easily gets jobs thanks to his stamina and strength.

Abilities
•Shapeshifting between his kelpie- and humanform.
Turning his skin adhesive at will.
•weak hypnosis (only works on humans).
•Blending into mist and bodies of water.
•Really sharp senses, especially smell, sight and hearing.

Strengths and weaknesses
•He can easily survive on an omnivore diet, however often feels an urge to drown people and consume their flesh. This is something that comes with his nature and can make distance himself from your character if triggered. Human children and women are more likely to trigger this instinkt. However suppressing his nature combined with stress can boil over and make him temporarily lose the ability to transform, sometimes for a few hours other times for days. When in this state he is pretty much trapped in one shape.
•A kelpies skin is often described as cold as death, so to put it simple Douglas doesn't have any body heat of his own. He is pretty comfortable in temperatures between 10-40 °C, however he is a lot weaker in temperature under 10 °C and if the temperature hits below 0 °C he can't remain conscious for more than 3-9 minuets. Therefore cold based attacks can easily take him down.
•I kelpie is described to have the strength of 10 horses and even as a human Douglas is significantly stronger than a human could hope to be. He is also very durable and has a high stamina.
•No matter how bad, he'll heal from any injuries if given enough time, leaving little visible trace behind. However seriously damaging one or several vital organ will leave him completely immobilized for at least a day and will cause memory loss. He'll even recover from being beheaded, however this will leave him with no memory at all, including speech and normal thought, resulting in him simply being a beast acting on pure instinct. In his case the instinct is drowning the shit out of people. So you better have some fancy time reversal magic if you want him back. And only way to truly kill him is to burn him to ash or completely destroy his body in some other way.

Appearance
A tall young man with a sturdy, muscular body, proud posture and mischievous glint in his hazel eyes, who seems to look more or less caucasian. Some easier to overlook visual details are his slightly cooked front teeth and unnatural lack of scarring.
Personality
Generally friendly, sensible, fair, trustworthy and surprisingly polite. However pretty selfish and waaaay to cocky and reckless at times.

Origin
His earliest memory is at around the age of 8, when he was found by a group of fishermen, floating face down, cold and liveless in at the shores of close to their village. At first they thought they had found a corpse, but they were met by a surprize as they tried to get him into the boat and he suddenly woke to life thrashing around and refusing to get into the boat, even jumping back out the one time they were able to get him out of the water. In the end they ended up spending half the morning trying to lure the seemingly suicidal child onto the boat, only to give up and simply throw a net over him tie it to the boat and drag him to
shore.

They didn't give his bodies lack of heat much thought considering how he must have been in the water, and upon arriving at the village they bring the kid to the tavern and leave him to the tavern owner, Elise, who dries him of and gives him something to eat, only to observe the childs apparent lack of interest in the food and begging to let loose into the water again. However, being a rather strict woman Elise was not having any of it. Douglas quickly stopped his whining after getting a long lecture on how lucky he was and ate the food, tough not being able to hide his distaste for the foreign food. Luckily Elise didn't pay details like that much attention and was content with the child simply getting some food into him.
Later that day Elise and the sailors tried finding out where the child had come from however he seemed to suffer from amnesia, so they decided to simply call the child Douglas until they could get hold of the police. However once they got contact nothing changed. No documents on the child were ever found and nobody seemed to recognise him when he was put on the news. And since Elise seemed to be the only one able to control the reckless child he was put in her care until a foster family was found.

And perhaps it was for the best that Douglas got to stay with Elise. You see, the middle aged woman had been fascinated by aquatic myths since a young age and even claimed to have met mermaid when in her teens, so when douglas suddenly started showing his true nature she wasn't one to panic. It is only thanks to her hard work and effort in raising Douglas that he today isn't a man eating horror, but a honest working fisherman.

Character name:
Douglas Ross

Age:
15

Gender:
Male

Species:
Kelpie

Abilities:
Making his skin adhesive , weak hypnosis (only works on humans), blending into mist and bodies of water so he can't be seen unless wanting to and Shapeshifting into his kelpie form are all of them, but compared to a full grown kelpies they are a lot weaker, meaning if he were to end up fighting an adult kelpie he'd be crushed.

Appearance:
He's a tall ginger with an athletic built and rather handsome, maybe a tad feminine, facial features. It may be worth mentioning he has more than a few scars on his face, neck and arms. The story behind the scars might change from rp to rp depending on what would fit the story.

Short personality description:
Friendly, caring, sensible, fair, trustworthy (unless you're a human and he wants to eat you), adventurous, polite, patient, anxious from time to time and most of the time talkative.

Random, but important things:
•Doesn't need to eat, but it comes with his nature to want to drown humans and consume them (except the heart or liver).
•His kelpie form mostly doesn't match the common descriptions of a kelpie.
•A kelpies skin is described as cold as death, so to put it simple, Douglas doesn't have any body heat. Makes me wonder what would have happened if he was dropped down in northern Russia in the middle of winter... I guess he should be pretty weak towards attacks below freezing point.

Origin:
Depends on rp.

Until the day you love me

Mira dreamt a weird dreamt this night. She was walking around in a beautiful, yet dark, castle full of magnificent blue roses. She looked out all the of windows she walks by, but all she could see was a garden full of the same roses as inside. A mist surrounding the castle made it imposible to see further than the garden.

Tough it is plenty with windows, whenever she tries to look for a door she can't find one. She starts to get desperate and for some reason Mira feels that someone is watching her.

Then out of no were, she sees a door in the corner of the room, but she was sure she looked there just a minute ago. The whole situation was strange, yet she decided to use the door anyways. Did she even have a choice?

On the other side she found a bathroom. Well, at least she tough it was a bathroom. There was nothing but a bathtub in the middle of the room. A young man wearing a black suit lay in the bathtub. He turned around and looked at Mira with his golden eyes. The innhuman eye collor made his pale skinn seem even paler, allmost white. When she took a closer look at him she saw that he was quite handsome, almost in the way of a doll. He smiled. Something was familiar about that smile.

-I wonder how such a frail lady could have lost her way and come to my home. Don't you have anyone to look after you? He stood up walked slowly towards her; something about the way he walked towards her looked like a predator stalking it's pray.

-A man you mean? This is just a dream, so why should I have a man to protect me? And I don't have a man anyway. Mira answered puzzeled by the strange question. Mira's answer clearly satisfied him, he chuckled a litle.

-Are you sure this is a dream? It may be a nightmare. Nightmares are much realer than they may seem; they're dangerous in a material sence. He said still wearing his playful smile.

-That's foolish; a nightmare is just a bad dream. She started to get confused by the young man.

Now he stood right before her. She could feel his breath, it was warm. He looked her in the eyes, to her suprise his smile had changed into a mutch more serious face.

-If I'm just a dream, how does it come you can feel the warmth my breath, fair lady? He whispered quietly.

This was too much for her to handle, she pushed him away and runned towards the exit, but the exit wasn't there anymore. It had disappered the same way it had appeared, without a sound. She was panicing in fright now,  this was truly a nightmare.

-Now you understand how frail and helpless you are, to walk alone? Suddenly the young man was standing right behind her.

-Take it easy, even a nightmare like me can be kind and sweet like a lovely dream. I'll be the man to protect you Mira. His whisper sounded gentle and soothing now, almost loving... Or was it soothing?

-You should be careful, evil demons simply adore young ladies like you. Of corse I mean on the dining table sweety. Those were the last words she heard before-

Suddenly Mira woke up. Her breath was heavy and she felt the blood running in her veins. But even as she had finnaly awoken, something wasn't right. The window in to her room was open and a cold wind stroke her skin, but she could swear she had locked the window before going to bed.

She stood up to lock it; she was dizzy and still somewhat sleepy as she walked towards the window. But then the wind suddenly became even colder, freezing to be honest. Was it just her imagination? Once again she had the feeling of someone stalking her, but this time every nerve in her body was screaming of danger. After locking the window, she turned around. She wanted to get to bed as soon as posible. To go back to dream land and forget the creapy feeling of someone stalking her. The last thing she saw was a tall shadow and an evil smirk.

When she woke up she found herself in another castel, she was lying on the lap of a tall young man. Not the one from the nightmare, this one was clearly different.  He had shoulder long white hair and wore a orange kimono decorated by white aloes. He seemed a lot more human but something about him was cold and empty.

-You're finally awake; it took you quite some time. He looked at her with an evil smirk. She stood up and started backing away from him. She then saw what was cold about him. His smile didn"t seem to bare any feeling at all.

-Who are you? Why am I here!? She asked feeling uneasy. But then the words of the man from the nightmare came back to her; ''you should be careful, evil demons simply adore ladies like you.'' The man in kimono stood up and walked towards her.

-So you don't know? I'm the Lord of the blood wolves, or werewolves as humans mostly call us. You should be honored to be in my mansion. It has such a lovely view of the ocean you know.

Resisting the urge to give a sarcastic answer to his randomness about views Mira relized she didn't have more space to keep on moving away. getting a closer look she noticed he had a wolf tail and sharp fangs. He wasn't human looking at all.

-Why am I here?!

He strokes her hair but she pushed his hand away. His cold smile got replaced by a threatening grin. Suddenly he pushed her into the wall and came closer.

-You do know human flesh is really tasty... Especially the tender flesh of a younger person.

Just when Mira was sure the next moment would be her last. All the lights in the room extinguished. And the werewolf froze his movement.

-She knows that. A angry voice said. It was the young man from the nightmare that appeared. He didn't look happy about the werewolf being so close to her.

-How dare a lowlife dog like you threaten my love? His eyes were glowing in a dim light and the shadows around him became darker and colder. The wolf Lord wasn't able to utter more than a few words in shock of what he saw.

-Y- are... t-nightmare… Lero…

Lero made a mowement with his hand and suddenly the werewolf collapsed, blood was flowing out his mouth and his body was shaking. It was cler that he  wasn't able to breath.

Lero took Mira by the hand and walked her out of the room. Luckly his hand wasn't as cold as the shadows were moment befor. Last time she saw him he could be considered harmless compared to how dark  he was while punishing the wolf Lord. When he saw how frightened she was he stoped his antric walking and stood still for a moment.

-I came all the way to save you yet it looks like you're more scared of me than that damn dog. He looked a bit disappointed.

-W-what did you do to him? And what did you mean by your "love"?! Her heart was racing just thinking about those words.

-All I did was give that mutt what he deserved, and I meant exactly what it sounded like; I love you Mira.

-As if that makes it less confusing, first you hunt me in my dream and right after you confess your love!..

-I've loved you way longer than it seems. This made the whole thing even more confusing.

- You are mad!

Once again he wore a gentle smile.

-I don't care what you think about me now; I'll wait until the day you'll remeber and love me. He turned around and disappeared. Mira was once again in her room. She wasn't sure if she should be happy or sad. But one thing was for sure, this wasn't the last time she would see the nightmare Lero.
